Melissa grew up a Floridian, whose father taught organic gardening at the local vocational school. She enjoyed helping her Dad tend to their garden and appreciated the ability of having fresh vegetables. This experience planted the seed for her foodservice career. She began her journey in the foodservice industry while studying Nutrition & Dietetics in college, only knowing that she loved anything food related and wanting to have a better understanding of how it benefited the body as well as the soul.
Melissa began her career in contract foodservice management in 2008 while exercising her CDM (Certified Dietary Manager) credentials. She quickly moved up to a District Manager role, followed by a Senior District Manager position, overseeing 24 Skilled Nursing homes in Florida while managing Account Managers, District Managers and multiple supporting management positions. She furthered her career while venturing into Business Development for Healthcare, Business and Industry, K-12 and Higher-Education dining space. Negotiating with procurement companies, franchise restaurants and the clients they service.
During her career, Melissa has successfully recruited talent throughout contract foodservice from hourly staff to Account & District Managers. Her experience in operations and business development allows her to empathize with the needs of employers and the employees they are seeking.
